Good sunny Monday morning, this is Burton with your No Salt ice report recorded for Racine County beaches on January the 18th 2010 at 10:35 a.m. Winds are out of the west at 8 mph with the outside air temperature at 29 degrees under very sunny skies at Racine County beaches. The ice shelf off of Racine beaches is still very dangerous and surfing is strongly not recommended off of any of Racine County beaches until it is safe once again to surf at all of Racine beaches. Today we will see some clouds for this morning but mainly sunny skies and our outside air temperatures for today will only get up into the low 30's and winds will be light out of the west. This late afternoon we will start to see increasing clouds and then for tonight we will see partly cloudy skies with light winds out of the WNW. This evening we will see our air temperatures drop back down into the low 20's and the sun will set at 4:46 tonight at Racine County beaches. The sunrise was this morning at 7:17 a.m and the water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are at a chilly 36 degrees. Well really not to much change at all for the ice situation off of Racine County beaches with still a very dangerous ice shelf extending all the way out into the lineup. Looking into the middle to late of this week we are going to see winds and waves out of the northeast and east that are going to add to the ice shelf and things could get worse before things start to get better as far as the ice goes. Well I have been keeping super busy with some serious winter sports for this last couple of weeks with some snowboarding and some ice fishing and truly taking advantage with some great winter time activities. Here are a few more pictures from last weeks snowboarding trip with Will and his son. Also a few from ice fishing with Allen and the crew here in Racine and one more picture from Dieter from out west with some epic waves from this winter. Enjoy and have a great week and the next ice update will be this next Friday the 22nd of January.

Well hope you have been keeping busy with work and other hobbies because it still looks like its going to be a while before things get back to normal again to surf off of Racine beaches. Keeping busy this last week me, will and his son Elijah went for an evening snowboard session this last week and here are a few pictures of us ripping it at Crystal Ridge in Franklin. Have a great weekend and check for Mondays No Salt Ice update for Racine County beaches. Will launching in the photo in the dark, that is Will you just cannot see him and yes he did pull this one. Thanks a lot for the last picture Dieter of the power of the Pacific Ocean on the west coast that was taken this past week with one of the best winters for surf the west coast has seen in a while. Good cloudy Monday morning, this is Burt with your ice report for Racine County beaches effective on January the 11th 2010. NNW winds at 10 mph with the outside air temperature at 23 degrees under very cloudy Wisconsin skies. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with our outside air temperatures pushing up into the upper 20's at Racine County beaches with a good chance for some light snow showers. Winds for today will be moderate out of the NNW and the sunrise was this morning at 7:21a.m. Tonight look for another slight chance for some light snow showers or two and we will see cloudy skies with our low air temperatures pushing back down into the upper single digits at Racine beaches. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are right at 36 degrees and are still dropping slowly. Well as you can see in the picture below that it is still very dangerous for surfing off of all Racine County beaches and surfing here in Racine County is not recommended. Until this next spring when it thaws out and is safe again at all Racine County Beaches to surf then I will go back to my daily surf reports. Go ice fishing or snowboarding because it is going to be a while before things get back to normal for surfing here in the Racine area. Next No Salt ice report will be this next Friday so have a great week. The picture under the ice picture is Jason surfing on January the 2nd 2010 before the ice self got to bad. | Good middle of the day, this is Burton with your Racine County Ice report recorded on Friday January the 8th 1010 at 12:16 p.m. The outside air temperature is at 21 degrees with cloudy skies and the winds are out of the NNW at 13 mph with gusts to 21 mph with the wind chill at 9 degrees. The ice situation has gone to pretty bad to really bad just from last nights strong winds out of the NE and NNE that has pushed in a lot more ice and has really added to our ice shelf off of Racine County beaches. Surfing conditions off of Racine beaches are still very, very dangerous and surfing is not recommended due to a very tall ice shelf and with a lot of ice in the lineup. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with a few peeks of sunshine from time to time and we will only see our high air temperatures push up into the low 20's at Racine County beaches. Also for today we will just see a slight chance for some light flurries or some light snow showers and winds will stay on the moderate side out of the NNW. Tonight we will see another slight chance for some light flurries or snow showers with our night time low air temperatures push down in the upper single digits and winds will stay on the moderate side out of the NNW. Skies will still be on the cloudy side for tonight and the sun will set at Racine County beaches at 4:35 p.m. The sunrise was at 7:21 a.m this morning and the water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are at a cold 38 degrees. Well I was going to post yesterdays picture of the lake and the ice situation but I have to take new ones to really show how bad it got just overnight. Get out and hit the slopes and take advantage of all this snow we got because it is going to be a while before things get back to normal and we get to surf again off of Racine County beaches. Next ice report will be on Monday January the 11th so have a great weekend and stay warm out there. Here is a picture of Pete and Chris after surfing on January the 2nd 2010 getting the last of the last of the waves here in the Racine County with one last spot open that was surfable in the beginging of the New Year. As you can see it was super cold that day with our air temperatures only hitting 11 degrees and the wind chills not even getting over the 0 degree mark. Also this picture was featured on the Freestyle blog and here is the link and thanks again Rusty Joe Medrow for taking these awesome photos. Thanks for the awesome sponsorship Freestyle Watch, Burton. Here is a picture of the lake taken at 3:45 p.m today under this picture, not good. http://www.freestyleusa.com/team/blog/

Good first Monday of 2010, this is Burton with your No Salt Surf ice report for Racine County beaches recorded on January the 4th 2010 at 11:13 a.m. NNW winds at 13 mph with the outside air temperature at 17 degrees with the wind chill at a cold 4 degrees under mostly cloudy skies at Racine County beaches. Well hope you got you share of waves over this last several days with some good winds and waves out of the NNW and NW because there are only a few open spots to surf here in the Racine area. As of now conditions for surfing off of any beaches here in the Racine County area are not recommended due to some serious dangerous ice conditions. I will be giving ice updates twice a week from now until early spring until it is safe at all Racine beaches to venture back out for a surf with no ice in the lineup. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with moderate winds out of the NW and we will see our high air temperatures push up into the low 20's at Racine beaches. We will see a slight chance for a few snow flurries for today at Racine beaches and also tonight we will see a slight chance for some light flurries or some snow showers. Tonight look for our night time low air temperature to push back down into the low teens and skies will stay on the cloudy side at Racine beaches. Winds for tonight will stay on the moderate side out of the NW and the sun will set at 4:31 p.m. The sunrise was this morning at 7:22 a.m and the water surface temperatures off of Racine beaches are at a cold 38 degrees and are slowly dropping. Next No Salt Surf Ice update will be this next Friday January the 8th. Have a great start to the new year and stay warm out there. Happy Birthday Mom and have a great B day. This is what parts of the Racine area look like with tons of ice out there. Also some serious and deadly surfing went on over this past weekend and this is why I say you should surf with someone in these deadly freezing conditions. Chris B showing his dread lock Santa impression on January the 2nd 2010. Thanks Rusty Joe for taking the picture you gave me and will be posting more this next Friday on my ice report.

Good cloudy Wisconsin late morning, this is Burton with your surf report for Racine County beaches recorded on December the 31st 2009 at 11:43 a.m. Winds are out of the WNW at 13 mph with the outside air temperature at 25 degrees and the wind chill is at a cold 13 degrees under very cloudy skies at Racine County beaches. Waves are flat for today with moderate winds out of the WNW that are not producing any waves at Racine County beaches. Today we will see our high air temperatures only push up into the upper 20's with just a slight chance for some light flurries or some light snow showers. Tonight look for some chilly low air temperatures in the upper single digits and winds will be moderate to strong out of the WNW and skies will stay on the cloudy side. New Years day look for strong winds out of the WNW but winds will be switching more out of the NW in the afternoon and our outside air temps will only push up into the upper teens. Another cloudy day in store for Friday and we will see another cold evening for Friday night with our outside air temperatures pushing down into the middle single digits. Saturday look for partly cloudy skies along with strong winds out of the NW and we will only see our high air temps push into the middle teens at Racine beaches. Saturday night look for our air temperatures to push back down into the upper single digits with still partly cloudy skies and winds will still be moderate to strong out of the NW. Sunday January the 3rd look for a mix of clouds and sun with our outside air temperatures pushing up into the low 20's at Racine beaches and winds will still be moderate to strong out of the NW and NNW. Sunday night we will once again see our air temperatures push back down into the cold low teens with partly cloudy skies and winds will still be moderate out of the NNW. Now we are going to see some of the coldest air temperature we have not seen in a while for the next several days with very cold winds out of the NW and NNW that are pushing down out of Canada. The good thing is that going into Friday afternoon all the way into this next week we are going to see some solid waves from these cold NW and NNW winds. Wave heights depending on when those winds want to switch over on Friday are going to start off on the small side for Friday morning. Then going into Friday late in the afternoon and going all the way into Monday we could see wave heights at the standout spots here in the Racine area push into the overhead range with good to excellent conditions for surfing. Pretty much the whole Racine County area over the next couple of days will see good to excellent conditions for surfing with those offshore NW winds and waves with plenty of waves out there even at the sheltered spots. Keep in mind that it is going to be super cold while surfing here in the Racine area for the next several days with the wind chills getting pretty dangerous so if venturing out for a surf please surf with someone and know your limits. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches are at 40 degrees on Lake Michigan and will be dropping with these colder temperature so wear the right wetsuit and gear to make the best of your surf session. The sunrise today was at 7:21 and the sun will set for the last day in 2009 at 4:27 p.m this evening at Racine County beaches. Well some solid winds and waves for the first part of 2010 out of the NW and NNW so get out an catch a few waves. Its been another awesome year surfing out here on The Great Lakes and look forward to another solid year of surfing and helping out my fellow Lakers in my forecasting for Lake Michigan and the Racine area. Have a very safe and Happy New Year and the next No Salt Surfcast will resume on Monday January the 4th. Burton

Good Wednesday morning, this is Burt with your surf report for Racine County beaches recorded at 10:14 a.m on December the 30th 2009. SSW winds at 8 mph with the outside air temperature at 27 degrees under very cloudy skies with areas of light snow. Waves are starting off on the super small side for this morning at Racine beaches with wave heights in the knee high range and under with very poor conditions for surfing. Waves are going to build a little bigger going into this late afternoon at Racine beaches with winds and waves out of the SSW. Still for today conditions for surfing will be on the poor side though with waves not exceeding over the thigh high range. A cloudy day in store for today with off an on light snow showers and our outside air temps will only push up into the low 30's. Winds for today at Racine County beaches will be light to moderate out of the SSW and then for tonight look for light to moderate winds out of the SW. Tonight look for still a good chance for some more light snow showers with a low around 30 degrees with skies staying on the cloudy side. The sunrise was at 7:22 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 4:26 p.m at Racine County beaches. The water surface temperatures off of Racine beaches on Lake Michigan are right at a chilly 40 degrees and will slowly be dropping with this colder weather we have been having. Well the waves will be on the small side for today but as of now January 2nd,3rd and 4th are lining up pretty good with winds and waves out of the NNW and north. The 1st of January is looking to have way too much west in the winds to create any substantial waves for the Racine area but after that things could line up good with a series of days with the winds blowing out of the NNW and north. Have a great Wednesday and check for New Years Eves No Salt Surf report. A few more for last weekends up north excursion. Happy Holidays.

Good chilly Wisconsin morning, this is Burton with your surf update for Racine County beaches effective at 9:17 a.m on December the 29th 2009. Winds are light out of the west at 6 mph with the outside air temperature at a chilly 10 degrees with the wind chill at 0 degrees under mainly sunny skies with a few clouds over Lake Michigan. Waves for this morning are leftover from yesterdays winds out of the NNW and NW and wave heights at the top standout spots are in the waist to stomach high range. There are a few bigger set waves for early this morning but waves will be fading going into the middle of the day and into this afternoon. Surfing conditions at the top standout spots are in the poor to fair range with a few corners to be had out there for this morning with like I said the bigger waves at the top standout spots. A very sunny day in store with our high air temperatures only pushing up into the low 20's and winds will stay on the light side out of the west. Tonight look for partly cloudy skies early with increasing clouds going into the late night hours and we will see moderate winds out of the SSW with a low around 17 degrees at Racine beaches. The sunrise was this morning at 7:21 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 4:26 p.m at Racine County beaches. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are at a chilly 40 degrees and are slowly dropping. Well after this mornings waves it is looking pretty small for the next day or so with maybe some small waves up to the knee to thigh high for Wednesday morning with winds and waves out of the SSW. Then it is looking pretty solid as far as waves go from the first of January into the next couple of days after that with winds and waves out of the NNW and NW. Keep checking in for new updates and stay warm out there. A few more from last weekends up north adventure.
