Good Monday, this is Burton with your surf update recorded on February the 20th 2012 at 1:44 p.m. Winds are moderate out of the southeast at 15 mph with gusts to 22 mph and the outside air temperature is at 37 degrees under sunny skies with a few clouds mixed in. Wave heights for today are in the knee high range and under and surfing conditions off of Racine beaches on Lake Michigan are very poor for surfing. Today we will see a mix of sun and clouds and winds will be moderate out of the southeast. The outside air temperatures for today will only push up into the mid to upper 30's at Racine County beaches. Tonight look for cloudy skies and winds will be moderate out of the SSE and there will be a chance for some light snow. The outside air temperatures for tonight will drop down into the low 30's at Racine beaches. The sunrise was this morning at 6:39 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 5:28 p.m. The water surface temperature off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are hanging at 38 degrees. Well we finally have some waves in store for Tuesday with winds and waves mainly out of the SSE. Wave heights here in the Racine area will push up into the waist to stomach high range with a few bigger set waves coming through from time to time. Here is the good news, winds and waves will be out of the SSE but the winds will be switching more out of the SW and WSW going into the mid day hours. If you can get out for a surf when the winds switch offshore you will score some good waves here in the Racine area. Surfing conditions will be fair in the morning hours but like I said if you get out winds those winds switch off shore by mid day surfing conditions will be fair to good with some fun lefts and rights to be surfed. After Tuesday's waves it does look very small to flat for the next several days here in the Racine area. Have a great Presidents Day and check for Wednesday's next surf report. Here is a cool picture Will took with his water camera a few swells back when we were surfing in South Milwaukee on Lake Michigan. Happy Surfing The Great Lakes 2012. Burton
