Good Windy and Snowy Friday afternoon, This is Burton with your surf report for Racine County beaches effective at 1:56 p.m on February the 10th 2012. Winds are strong out of the north at 23 mph with gusts to 39 mph and the outside air temperature is at 25 degree and the windchill is at 10 degrees under very cloudy skies with moderate snow showers. Waves are building going into this afternoon with winds and waves mainly out of the north. Before the sun sets we will see waves at the sheltered spots pushing up to the chest to head high range and at a few selective spots surfing conditions will be fair to good. Today we will see about 2 to 3 inches of snow and winds will be strong out of the north. Skies for today will remain cloudy and the outside air temperatures will push only up into the upper 20's at Racine County beaches. Tonight look for still some on an off snow showers but accumulations will be under one inch. We will see still strong winds for tonight out of the NNW and skies will remain on the cloudy side. The outside air temperatures will drop down into the low teens for tonight and windchill will be around -10 degrees. The water surface temperatures off of Racine beaches on Lake Michigan are between 38 and 40 degrees. The sunrise was this morning at 6:54 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 5:15 p.m. Well a solid wind and swell event going on right now with strong north arctic winds coming out of Canada with this strong cold front. Look for building waves out of the north going into this late afternoon and like I said the sheltered spots are going to be your best bet for surfing to get out of those strong north winds. Don't rule out Saturday morning with some good surfing conditions all over the Wisconsin coast with some good winds and waves out of the northwest. At the sheltered spots for look for overhead waves with some great surfing conditions here in Racine County with the offshore winds. Have a great weekend and get out for a few surf's because this looks like its going to be it for a while as far as waves go for the next several days. The next surf update will be on Monday. Here is a picture of the wave forecast from NOAA for Saturday.
