Good late Monday afternoon, This is Burton with your surf update for Racine County beaches effective on February the 6th 2012 at 4:33 p.m.Winds are out WSW at 13 mph with gusts to 22 mph and it's 34 degrees under partly cloudy skies at Racine beaches. Waves for today are flat at Racine beaches with very poor conditions for surfing. Today we saw cloudy skies early this morning then we saw partly cloudy skies for the rest of the half of the day. The outside air temperatures for today did push up into the mid to upper 30's for today and winds were moderate out of the WSW. Tonight look for winds to be moderate out of the north and skies will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for some light snow showers after midnight. The outside air temperature for  tonight will drop down to about 30 degrees. The sunrise was this morning at 6:58 a.m and the sunset was at 5:09 p.m. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches are at 38 degrees. Well with all of this warmer weather for the last few week the ice shelf and the ice in the water is gone. Surfing conditions are once again safe to venture out for a surf at all of Racine beaches again. There is some surf in the forecast for Tuesday late in the afternoon with winds and waves out of the NNE. Surfing conditions for Tuesday late in the afternoon will be fair with some fun waves at the sheltered spots pushing up into the stomach to chest high before the sun sets. Get out and catch your waves for Tuesday because the next few days after that are going to be on the very small side for surfing here in the Racine area. Happy Birthday to  our fellow lake surfer and good friend Ryan Bigelow. The next surf update will be on Wednesday. Here is a picture that was in Transworld Surf's magazine a few years back in 2008 of me surfing up on Lake Superior. The photo was taken by Bob Tema. Happy Surfing The Great Lakes 2012. Burton
