Good cloudy Monday morning, this is Burt with your ice update effective on February the 1st 2010 at 11:43 a.m for Racine County beaches. Winds are out of the SSW at 8 mph with the outside air temperature at a cool 25 degrees under very cloudy skies at Racine beaches. The ice conditions have pretty much stayed the same off of Racine County beaches and it still looks exactly the same in the picture a few ice reports ago. Surfing conditions off of all Racine County beaches is still not advised due to very dangerous ice conditions and the ice shelf. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies once again at Racine beaches with our outside air temperatures only pushing up into the mid to upper 20's. Winds will be on the calm side for today and we will see a chance for some light flurries from time to time. Tonight look for our night time low air temps to push back down into the low 20's and winds will still stay on the calm side at Racine County beaches. Also for tonight we will see cloudy skies with a better chance for some light to moderate snow showers working their way into the later part of the evening. The sunrise this morning was at 7:04 a.m and the sun will set tonight at Racine County beaches at 5:04 p.m. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are holding right at a cold 36 degrees. Still not much change in our ice situation for all of the Racine County area and it dose look like several more weeks until we get back to normal and it is safe to go surfing again. Have a great week and check for Friday the 5th's ice update. A few more pictures from a few weekends ago up north here in Wisconsin and one from the west coast from Dieter.
