Good middle of the day, this is Burton with your Racine County Ice report recorded on Friday January the 8th 1010 at 12:16 p.m. The outside air temperature is at 21 degrees with cloudy skies and the winds are out of the NNW at 13 mph with gusts to 21 mph with the wind chill at 9 degrees. The ice situation has gone to pretty bad to really bad just from last nights strong winds out of the NE and NNE that has pushed in a lot more ice and has really added to our ice shelf off of Racine County beaches. Surfing conditions off of Racine beaches are still very,
very dangerous and surfing is not recommended due to a very tall ice shelf and with a lot of ice in the lineup. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with a few peeks of sunshine from time to time and we will only see our high air temperatures push up into the low 20's at Racine County beaches. Also for today we will just see a slight chance for some light flurries or some light snow showers and winds will stay on the moderate side out of the NNW. Tonight we will see another slight chance for some light flurries or snow showers with our night time low air temperatures push down in the upper single digits and winds will stay on the moderate side out of the NNW. Skies will still be on the cloudy side for tonight and the sun will set at Racine County beaches at 4:35 p.m. The sunrise was at 7:21 a.m this morning and the water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are at a cold 38 degrees. Well I was going to post yesterdays picture of the lake and the ice situation but I have to take new ones to really show how bad it got just overnight. Get out and hit the slopes and take advantage of all this snow we got because it is going to be a while before things get back to normal and we get to surf again off of Racine County beaches. Next ice report will be on Monday January the 11th so have a great weekend and stay warm out there. Here is a picture of Pete and Chris after surfing on January the 2nd 2010 getting the last of the last of the waves here in the Racine County with one last spot open that was surfable in the beginging of the New Year. As you can see it was super cold that day with our air temperatures only hitting 11 degrees and the wind chills not even getting over the 0 degree mark. Also this picture was featured on the Freestyle blog and here is the link and thanks again Rusty Joe Medrow for taking these awesome photos. Thanks for the awesome sponsorship Freestyle Watch, Burton. Here is a picture of the lake taken at 3:45 p.m today under this picture, not good.                   http://www.freestyleusa.com/team/blog/
