Good first Monday of 2010, this is Burton with your No Salt Surf ice report for Racine County beaches recorded on January the 4th 2010 at 11:13 a.m. NNW winds at 13 mph with the outside air temperature at 17 degrees with the wind chill at a cold 4 degrees under mostly cloudy skies at Racine County beaches. Well hope you got you share of waves over this last several days with some good winds and waves out of the NNW and NW because there are only a few open spots to surf here in the Racine area. As of now conditions for surfing off of any beaches here in the Racine County area are not recommended due to some serious dangerous ice conditions. I will be giving ice updates twice a week from now until early spring until it is safe at all Racine beaches to venture back out for a surf with no ice in the lineup. Today we will see mainly cloudy skies with moderate winds out of the NW and we will see our high air temperatures push up into the low 20's at Racine beaches. We will see a slight chance for a few snow flurries for today at Racine beaches and also tonight we will see a slight chance for some light flurries or some snow showers. Tonight look for our night time low air temperature to push back down into the low teens and skies will stay on the cloudy side at Racine beaches. Winds for tonight will stay on the moderate side out of the NW and the sun will set at 4:31 p.m. The sunrise was this morning at 7:22 a.m and the water surface temperatures off of Racine beaches are at a cold 38 degrees and are slowly dropping. Next No Salt Surf Ice update will be this next Friday January the 8th. Have a great start to the new year and stay warm out there. Happy Birthday Mom and have a great B day. This is what parts of the Racine area look like with tons of ice out there. Also some serious and deadly surfing went on over this past weekend and this is why I say you should surf with someone in these deadly freezing conditions.
