This is Burt with your surf update for Racine County recorded at 10:02 a.m on July the 1st 2009. NNE winds at 12 mph with the outside air temperature at a cool 56 degrees under cloudy and drizzly Wisconsin skies. Wave heights for this morning and going through the day will be in the knee to thigh high range with a few plus set waves up to waist high every once in a while at the standout spots. Surfing conditions overall will be in the poor to fair range with a few little corners to be had out there with a good longboard being you best bet to get a few glides in. Today we will see mostly cloudy skies with some very light rain and our air temperature will struggle to hit the 60 degree mark. Winds will be on the moderate side for today out of the NNW and the for tonight look for a low around 57 degrees with a slight chance for a light rain shower early. Later on this evening we will be left with partly cloudy skies and winds will be light to moderate out of the NW. The sunrise was this a.m at 5:17 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 8:33 p.m. Water surface temps have cooled off a little and are between 60 and 62 degrees off of Racine beaches. Thursday look for warmer conditions with our air temps pushing back up in to the mid 70's at Racine beaches with a mix of sun and clouds and winds will be light out of the NW. Waves for Thursday will be in the knee to thigh high range early with a few plus set waves early but waves will be dropping fast through the morning hours. Surfing conditions for Thursday will be the same as today with poor to fair conditions and again your best bet is to ride a log. The low air temps for Thursday will be right around 63 degrees for Thursday evening. Well some small but fun waves here and there for this last couple of days at the standout spots here in the Racine area so get a few because after Thursday things will start to go flat once again for the holiday weekend and beyond. Have a great Wednesday and Thursday and check for a mid day surf update for Friday afternoon.
