Good afternoon, this is Burton with your ice update for Racine beaches effective on Tuesday January the 20th 2009 recorded at 1:20 p.m. Very sunny Wisconsin skies with the outside air temperature at a 22 degrees and the wind chill at 16 degrees, winds are light out of the north at 5 mph. Still very dangerous ice conditions prevail at all of Racine County beaches with not so much as the ice in the water making it dangerous but the ice shelf it self making it very difficult to venture out for a surf. There is a lot of ice in the water off of Racine beaches but it is a few miles out.  We will see a nice day in store for today with increasing clouds going into this afternoon and our high air temps will stay in the low 20's, winds will be light to moderate mainly out of the northwest. Tonight look for a cold low air temperature around 11 degrees with cloudy conditions and winds will be moderate out of the WSW.  The sunrise this morning was at 7:16 a.m and the sun will set tonight at 4:49 p.m. Still no real warm up for the next several days for the Racine area to help out with the thawing so we can surf again so hang in there and go snowboarding or ice fishing. Have a great week and check for next Tuesday the 27th of January for the next ice update.  Lake Superior Dreaming, photo by Bob Tema
