This is Burton with your No Salt Surf update for Racine beaches effective at 9:36 a.m March the 31st 2008. NNE winds at 9 mph with the outside air temperature at 37 degrees under cloudy skies with some foggy conditions. Waves are flat for this morning with some early morning thunderstorms and some rain showers with light NNE winds. Todays high air temps will be in the low 50's with some locally heavy rain on tap for this afternoon with also a good chance for some strong to severe thunderstorms. East winds will be light to moderate for the rest of the day with still some small shin high waves on tap but with very weak and small conditions for surfing. As we go through the overnight hours we will see the winds pick up as this strong storm system makes its way out of the plain states and through our area with a flood watch in effect until late this evening. SW winds will be pretty strong for this evening but the winds will switch more out of the west after midnight and stay pretty moderate to strong. Now here is the good news on this next storm system pushing its way through the area, moderate to strong northwest winds will be on the backside of this storm with some good to excellent waves lining up for Tuesday mid day and through the afternoon, with some good wave heights but with clean offshore conditions. Lets hope everything lines up good for this next wind and swell event because this could be a good one especially at the standout spots. Look for this evenings surfcast and have a great day.
