Good Saturday, this is Burton with your 11:55 a.m surf update for Racine County recorded on December the 29th 2007. WSW winds at 7 mph with the outside air temperature at 24 degrees and the wind chill at 15 degrees under cloudy Wisconsin skies. Waves flat for today with mainly winds out of the WSW and pretty light with not much going on out there to kick up any waves. Looking into the future for some surf it looks like we could have a moderate southwest wind event for Sunday and Monday but the best wind and swell event is lining up good for Wednesday January the 2nd with waves out of the NW and a pretty solid start for the new year. Take caution though with a few places here in Racine already building that ice shelf so be careful out there. As the lake starts to freeze up and becomes very dangerous to paddle out were we cant surf anymore in the upcoming future I will start to go back to 1 surfcast a day and then back to once a week to give ice updates until next spring. It was another awesome surf season here in Racine and all over Lake Michigan meeting new people and surfing all different breaks, these Great Lakes are the last places to find a wave that has never been ridden and maybe never will because the of the harsh environments and the unpredictable winds and weather. 2008 will be another adventure to new breaks and great people, thanks for checking out my surfcast and keep surfing. See you in the lineup. Burton
