Good Wednesday, this is Burton with your surf report for Racine County beaches effective on January the 18th 2012 at 1:38 p.m. Winds are light out of the SSW at 7 mph and the outside air temperature is at a cool 19 degrees under sunny skies with just a few high clouds at Racine beaches. Waves for this early morning were in the knee to the thigh high range at the standout spots but overall surfing conditions were on the poor side. Today we will see mainly sunny skies with just a few high clouds and the outside air temperatures will struggle to push up into the low 20's. Winds will be light out of the south for today but look for increasing winds out of the SSW and SW going into the late afternoon hours. Tonight the outside air temperatures will drop down into the low teen's at Racine beaches and winds will be moderate to strong out of the SW. Also for tonight we will see increasing clouds with a slight chance for some light snow flurries. Thursday we will see a mix of clouds and sun and the outside air temperatures will be on the cold side only pushing up to about 11 degrees. Winds will be moderate to strong out of the northwest for Thursday at Racine beaches and the windchill will be around -10 for Thursday. Thursday night look for clear skies with the outside air temperatures pushing way down into -1 degree mark. Winds for Thursday will be light to moderate out of the WNW. The sunrise was this morning at 7:16 a.m and the sun will set this late afternoon at 4:45 p.m. The water surface temperatures off of Racine County beaches on Lake Michigan are between a cool 38 and 40 degrees. Well not much in the forecast as far as waves go for the next few day's here in the Racine area. We will see strong winds out of the northwest for Thursday but as of now it looks like there will be way too much west in the winds to create any kind of waves here in the Racine area even at the standout spots. There might be a slim chance for some little waves for the late afternoon hours on Thursday at the standout spots but wave heights will struggle to push up into the knee to thigh high range if even that. Hope you got out yesterday afternoon with some good conditions for surfing here in the Racine area at a few selective spots. Here is a picture that Will Wall took of me surfing yesterday with his water camera while we were surfing here in Racine. Also another picture I took before we paddled out. Have a great next few day's and check for Friday's No Salt Surf update for Racine County Beaches. Happy Surfing The Great Lakes 2012. Burton |
